About Julians Berry Farm and Cafe

Julians Berry Farm and Cafe is a pick-your-own berry farm and cafe on Huna Road at Whakatāne. The seed data placed it at Pikowai, a different settlement some distance away, but the farm's own website confirms the Huna Road address. Visitors pick their own strawberries, blackberries and boysenberries in season, paying by container size rather than by weight, with single, family and super sizes on offer. The farm's own site names mid to late November as the best time for strawberries, with the picking fields and cafe opening daily from 3 October each year and closing once the season finishes. The cafe has a large sheltered outdoor seating area and a fenced playground, and serves berry ice creams, smoothies and coffee alongside a blackboard food menu, as well as jams, sauces, soaps and other berry products for sale. As of late August 2026 the site stated that no berries were yet available for picking, since the previous season had concluded and the new one had not yet opened.
